Located just outside of Salt Lake City’s downtown, 9th and 9th (intersection of 900E and 900S) is worth exploring. Some call this area Sugar House because the two flow into one another, however, this neighborhood is located just north of the Sugar House core. It is eclectic, diverse, and artsy, with a hint of fringe.
The Vibe
You’ll find everything from the historic Tower Theater, to sidewalk cafes haunted by students, entrepreneurs, and hipsters. The coffee is great, the restaurants inspired, and the entertainment is local and independent.
Homes here echo the eclectic architecture of Sugar House and Yalecrest, spanning years from the 1800s to new construction. Some have been modernized into showplaces, while others provide “an opportunity.”
One thing is for sure, this area’s popularity has been growing…fast. This also means homes here get snatched up quickly. If you’re a seller in the 9th and 9th area, make sure to get solid pricing advice, because it would be easy to miss the sweet-spot in an area as dynamic as this.
When I moved to Salt Lake City years ago, I bee lined to live in the 9th and 9th area. I could walk to coffee and yoga or take a jog through Liberty Park. It was lovely! Today I’m still within walking distance of my favorite intersection.
